Completion

Complete Me

I am incomplete without:

the red fox
who shadows my tracks
leaving prints and pee everywhere
but hiding himself from sight;
the moose
whose blackness fades from view
behind a tree;
the grizzly
who announces his displeasure
at human incursion
by sitting on backpackers’ tents
as they sleep;
the white whale
whose power cannot be contained;
the raven
who opens suitcases;
the flicker
who warns
by imitating the hawk’s call;
the buffalo
who follows me discreetly
down the trail;
my collies
who comfort and delight;
the wolf
whose steady gaze
opens and searches my heart;
all
that will never be understood
manipulated or controlled

    This is the beauty of nature, no controlling the wildlife
    and that’s how it should be.
    THOUGH
    After saying that, Man has certainly disrupted
    life in the wild for so many different species and on all
    levels, have taken away the authenticity of their
    habitats, endangered countless with greed of our planet
    earth, it has to stop before we lose more.

    As always a great posting my dear friend Monica, and hey,
    Happy New Year 2018 with hugs aplenty from this now ageing
    Gothy guy 🙂 lol Just kidding, age is just a number my sweet
    friend 🙂 Have a superb Friday and weekend 🙂

    Andro xx

      Andro, it is just plain wonderful to have you visit. Your comment is heartfelt and compelling, as always. As for the aging, I’m sure it is happening gracefully. As my grandmother used to say, “If you want to live, you have to get older.” Simple and perhaps obvious, but also wise. Best wishes to you, friend!
