Mathematics of the Heart

Root Squared

Do not prepare the heart
for future sorrow
The blow will not be softened
no feelings spared
loss anticipated more than doubles
the root of sorrow squared.

she’s lying beside me now, Monica, and I too am obsessed, so she has the two of us thinking about her…She’s recovered well, and I sometimes can’t quite believe how ill she was, and also how hard the mere thought of losing her hit me with such pain. It will happen one day, I do know this, but not yet, not yet!! xx

  3. Yes – I look out the window and see leaves turning the color of collies. I have to look again, thinking I might have missed something. Forgive me if I begin to obsess about Bess now, without my own…

    I’ve just re-read this Monika,
and it hits hard at what’s been happening this past week or so…
I nearly said goodbye to my Buddy, and it hurt so much, but now she’s almost fully recovered and I still cry.., because I’m gazing into the future instead of reveling in the present. MY sin I suppose, but I must do better.. Thank you for reminding me…xPenx

  5. Laz, that’s a very nice thing to say.

I am pleased that your Dentist is of the nice, caring variety… lol Thank you for your nice thoughts on my Script Monica, I do have a bit of a cheeky nature, all tongue-in-cheek naughtiness, though sometimes peeps have mistaken my comments as being something completely different and take me completely by surprise, you see I would never intentionally upset any of my friends as it is just not my way…

Regarding my Scripts, you know I usually just think of a title, sort of pluck it straight out from the atmosphere and within moments I have written and added it, it has always been like that for me…

Have a lovely rest of evening (I say evening, but not sure whether you are in front or behind on the time zone? lol) Whatever the time of day is, then enjoy a relaxing time…

  13. Easy to give advice — it’s a goal I shoot for and miss. Thanks, Pen, for your wonderful comments.

  14. Hello Androgoth, Thanks for reminding me that there’s no sorrow without corresponding happiness. Lovely comment.

Live for the day, don’t anticipate ….So much said Monica in Root Squared, with so few words….Makes you think., really think… xPenx

Yes but just think of all the beautiful moments too, as for every sorrow there is a most enlightened feeling of happiness, where there are pessimistic feelings there is a growing optimism and where emptiness of the heart is experienced there is an abundance of love just waiting to happen… I really like your Poem Monica it is one that adds volumes, multiplies the thoughts and equals a thought provoking response… Have a lovely Thursday now and keep adding to your excellent Poetry…
