HOMEWARD BOUND
Let me live in the ocean
sea source of life
let me ride waves and currents
in perfect sureness
land limbs and land rhythms
long forgotten
free to fly
in cold clean living water
singing my slow songs
without haste.

Surfacing, my eyes will know you,
speak of the deep sea secrets
we cannot share.

Hello Kenny, Yes, I was sure you felt a strong affinity for the ocean and its dwellers. “Deep Peace of the Running Wave” to you, too.
Hello Monica.
There are land living creatures who’s ancestors originally dwelt in the oceans and viceversa. It proves that anything can change it’s Natural element. If I could change mine, I too would be an inhabitant of the sea.
I am Pisces, and can relate to this fine ode to the Whale. It brought to mind, just how majestic and magnificent these mammals are.
But why OH why do they beach themselves ? A question man has yet to answer. My own pet theory is, they are trying to escape something far greater and powerful than themselves. “WOW”… Do we really know “all” that dwells in the deep, all that lurks beneath the running waves !
and still the vicious harpoons turn the blue, red ! Dam them killers to hell.
Kenny2dogs wishing you well.
Yes, beyond belief. That must have been a shocker. We still study what it means to be human. Thanks, always, for your comments, Bluebee.
Last night, I transferred some of my long-dead maternal grandfather’s slides to PC and there were some of these magnificent creatures, freshly slaughtered, at an old whaling station in the city in which I grew up – thankfully, it’s been closed for more than 30 years now but I still cannot understand why this practice continues in other parts of the world – it’s beyond belief. Wish more people would see it your way, Monica.
Thank you, Androgoth. Infinite are the tides of the sea – beautiful.
Yes I think that whales are indeed a most wonderful mammal and this poem shows your understanding of the vastness of the oceans, like in time that has no end…
Infinite are the tides of the sea, a world of richness, and yet whales seem to be beyond the scope of man and unfortunately misundertood by many…
This is a delightful poem to add Monica and
one that enhances so many different thoughts…

Thank you both. Your comments make me happy.
So beautiful Monica!
I enjoyed this one so much… love the images 🙂
Peace to you,
Laz
Leaves me with a longing for sea living, adrift from the cares of the land, into the wild waves to join the Leviathans …Wonderfully worded Poetry Monica…I can hear the call of their music in my ears…Hauntingly beautiful…Would that we could understand, and let them be…living free from the threat of man…. xPenx
