Ode to Edward Abbey (2)

Voice in the wilderness
cries
as flesh of the desert
flows upstream
current contained and controlled
river’s life condemned
incarcerate

  1. Dear Pen,
Thanks so much for your comment. I like the wikipedia article – thanks for sending the link. Abbey’s Desert Solitaire is amazing – that prose/poetry we love and you are so good at. I stopped reading 2 pages from the end — couldn’t bear to finish. Best to you.

    HI Monica,
Love this raw feeling in this poem.
and I’ve just noticed the Book link …Essays for The Planet… Had a ‘walk’ around and loved that too…Food for the soul., my friend…thank you for sharing your work.
You had me wondering with the tag..Edward Abbey, so I did my favourite thing of Googling…and found this link…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Abbey
He sounds a wonderful character willing to do all for the cause of conservation…and I would like to be buried as he wanted…fertiliser…pure and simple!!…xPenx
