Savvy Cat

Oliver After Dark

Savvy cat strolls outdoors
meeting and greeting the dogless walker
black fur polishes boots
purrs contentment
Be savvy, cat!
Coyote four-pack
loped this way last night

my first cat poem

Thank you all for your lovely comments. Cats seem to strike a responsive chord! I had never seen Oliver before, even though I have passed that way many times. I keep looking for him now. He lives near where I saw him – I checked his tag!

  3. Monica says:

Oliver would make a great protagonist — so self-sufficient and soft, at the same time.

This is like a suspenseful prologue to a great tale of mystery woven against a backdrop of the domestic Oliver and the wild coyote – who is the dogless walker… 😀

It is a good one, too.
We have them in the woods behind our house, and I occasionally see them in the yard at night, but we are catless.
