DESCARTES’ DOG
Pity the dog
of René Descartes.
Spoke no French
and thus had no heart.
No thoughts, feelings
or wants had he,
mechanistic brain in poor body.
DESCARTES
Descartes
was the world’s
least observant
dog owner.

Perhaps he should have said:
I don’t think too well…
therefore I may not be.
and no one would have paid attention.

I hope that your Friday is a lovely one Monica,
and of course the weekend an equally exciting time
for you… Be very well now my great friend…

Thanks, Richard – that’s high praise from you.
I love your addendum Monica….just right methinks…xx
This is really cool Monica.
Clever follow in of the other. lol
Nice touch of humour too
Yes the learning is there for all of us my wickedly fine friend, though I guess it is more a case of whether or not one is willing to learn from others past mistakes, the world can be seen as a spiral of uncertainties and yet on the other side of the coin there are so many wonders yet to be discovered…
I look forward to your next posting Monica…

Dear Ian, All right – I’ll be interested to hear what you think.
I would love to see this, Bluebee – Monty Python on Descartes – wow!
Dear Androgoth, I so agree with you about the learning curve. What seems disgusting to us now was taken for granted not so long ago. We humans can learn, can’t we?
You have me thinking now Monica , seems I have to do some google as to Descartes , will return in due course.
Cheers girl
Ian
Monty Python’s take on RD was probably on the mark
How philosophical of you…
A very nice addition to your
blogging here Monica, and
with meaning also, so more
than just a poetic collective.
How one could imagine a
dog to be that of a machine?
Still it is a learning curve that
we can all gain knowledge
from don’t you think? Dogs,
like all animals, birds and the
like have a place in our world,
without them, life would be a
far less better place… Thank
you for sharing your thoughts
on this theme Monica.

Sad, isn’t it, how we find a way to justify?
Strongly agree, my friend
most interesting, sadly
All the Best,
Peace,
Laz
Dear Kenny, I agree with you on both counts! That word is so disgusting, I couldn’t bring myself to tag it. (As though someone could be searching under “…”)
All a dog wants is for “nobody to go away”
Vivisection such a disgusting word !!!
Be well Monica, I think of you often .
Right, Sandy – he has lost all credibility with dogs!
But not with dogs!
He was definitely not a dog person.
Good poems, Monica.
And he continues to be so influential.
I agree, Monica, he was indeed the worlds worst…and I do more than pity the poor dog… I’d like to punch Descartes on the nose … to see if he felt that!!!
I’ve just checked the links, so much pain and suffering caused in the quest for human anatomical answers, but surely the mere fact that the poor animal must have suffered horribly would dispel any doubts that the animals felt pain? Sickening…just sickening…
