Is Poetry Hard?

Ipoetry is hard

I saw this sign recently outside a local restaurant.  Is poetry hard?  Not for Bob Dylan.  Being enigmatic, this sign evokes him.

Possibly not so unusual. Strangely enough, I don’t think Dylan would object. I loved his reaction of stunned surprise to the Nobel.

I’ve never been able to stand Bob’s nasally whine to listen to his words. I know, I know, it’s not a popular view.

I like your description of the fine line

I suppose any form of art is hard at first, practice makes it easier, but for some artists it is never easy. Sometimes it’s a fine line between perspiration and inspiration. I suppose the end result should always seem like it was done easily. And to that is exceptions, also. I don’t think many musicians would think Mahler had an easy time of it when writing any of his symphonies, particularly the 2nd, 6th. etc.

Hello Julien, I had no idea this quote was well-known. I thought it was brilliantly invented by the restaurant. I love it anyway! Thanks for visiting and commenting. Only connection to Dylan was the enigmatic and tantalizing writing.
